The charging system of the car
So how does a battery discharge? When the battery is connected to the load, due to the existence of voltage, current will be generated, driving electrons will flow from the negative plate to the positive plate, the metal lead and lead dioxide on the positive and negative plate will become lead ions, and then lead ions and sulfate combined to form lead sulfate. This cycle creates a continuous discharge current, and the chemical energy between molecules is converted into electrical energy. Because this process will consume sulfuric acid in the electrolyte and generate lead sulfate attached to the positive and negative plates, with the extension of discharge time, less and less sulfuric acid in the electrolyte, more and more lead sulfate attached to the plate, sulfuric acid and metal lead on the plate contact less and less, the reaction speed is slower and slower, and the discharge current is also smaller and smaller. So the battery discharge time is more and more weak, is this reason. When most of the plate is covered with lead sulfate, the reaction basically stops, and this is called "electrolysis".
