Driven by the strong social development needs and huge potential market, electrochemical energy storage systems based on lithium-ion batteries have been widely used in all aspects of the power system. Lithium-ion batteries are so called because lithium exists in the form of ions, both in the positive and negative electrodes of the battery and in the electrolyte. Compared with other energy storage batteries, its outstanding advantages are that the storage energy per unit volume is high, there is no memory effect, there is no need to consider the depth of battery power consumption before charging, and at the same time, the energy conversion rate is high, the self-discharge rate is low, and the service life is long. The following is a brief analysis of this.
1. High energy storage per unit volume. As we all know, compared with ordinary batteries, the energy density ratio of lithium-ion batteries is high, which is determined by its power generation principle, because under the same quality, the number of mol of lithium batteries is more, and the energy generated is stronger, so the energy denser. Therefore, under the same weight, the stored energy of lithium-ion batteries is higher.
2. No memory effect. The memory effect refers to the tendency of a battery to automatically maintain this specific duty cycle after a long period of time. In each use, any incomplete discharge will deepen this effect and make the battery capacity lower. Lithium-ion batteries have almost no memory effect and do not need maintenance in this regard. Before charging, you do not need to consider the depth of battery power consumption, and it is more convenient to use later.
3. Long service life. The number of cycles of a lithium-ion battery is about 2000. The life of the lithium battery is related to the number of completions of the charging cycle. A charging cycle means that all the power of the battery is fully charged from full to empty, and then from empty to full. This is not equivalent to the process. For a single charge, it may usually take several charges to complete a cycle. Therefore, under the same conditions, the service life of lithium ions is several times that of ordinary batteries.
Due to its unique technical advantages, lithium-ion batteries are currently widely used in industrial fields and become an indispensable energy source in industrial equipment.
